Measure body, surface, and room temperatures accurately – My daughter recently moved out and took the household thermometer with her, so I needed a replacement. I have room and surface temperature thermometers and had my daughter bring the thermometer back long enough for me to test the accuracy of this product. This is an infrared (IR) thermometer, however, only the body and surface modes use the IR; the room temperature seems to use an internal sensor like my other thermometers do, so the room temperature function will require you to leave the thermometer out for a while to adjust to room temperature before it is accurate. If you leave it in a drawer with other items before use, you won’t get an accurate reading. To test this function, I set it side-by-side with my other room thermometers, and it was identical to both.

Works as advertised – This thermometer works as advertised – it tells body temperature, surface temp, and room temp with the different modes. It has an audible feature that can be turned off and on – which will be nice to be able to have off to take a child’s temperature without a beeping noise if they are resting/asleep. It came with instructions but it did not have anything with it to talk about product features. I learned in order for the room temperature to work, it needs to be left in the room for a few minutes – it doesn’t use the infrared to scan the room as it does with the body and surface function. When I opened it, it was beeping right away so I thought it was a returned item because the batteries were already installed even though there was a spot in the packaging for the batteries. I went back to the advertisement for the scanner and it does say the batteries come installed. It may not be 100% accurate but it is close enough to get an idea of temperature. It says in the instructions not to use it on infants less than 100 days old or on children less than 2 years old or any child in the case to “manage important health concerns”. That being said, if the temperature is critical…use a different thermometer. Overall – I will use it as a general-use thermometer in my home.

It has an easy to read display and comes with batteries already. Readings are accurate (I tested against our old thermometer). Great alternative to forehead thermometers, but maybe not the most accurate. – I love that I don’t have to push and rub this thermometer across my kids’ heads. Pointing and shooting is so much easier. It’s quick and consistent. The reason for the lack of one star is that I think it registers a little low. I was consistently around 97.2, but my personal standard body temp is 97.6. If you take that into account, and you get some good baseline readings, I think it will work. You’ll just have to remember the baseline readings for everyone in your family. (Maybe stick them on the side.) If you need something that is very precise, this probably isn’t it, but I recommend it to anyone else.
