Super safe, easy to use – This is truly an amazing product. As a first time mom I was terrified to check my babies temperature when he was just a couple months old, actually rectally. But the way that this thermometer is shaved it gives you peace of mind to know that there’s no way you can push it into far and hurt your little one. It is really fast in reading the temperature, and seems quite accurate. I just used a little lubricant to help it go in, and afterwords wiped it off with an alcohol wipe. I’ve bought this several times since I received it, for baby shower gifts. Baby tolerated very well, until he got older. Can use for axillary (armpit) temp also, just look up differences on those temperatures.

Precise and Easy But Don’t Get It Wet – Update 5/5/2016: I’m bumping it up to 5 stars because it started working again, and now almost 5 years later the battery finally died. We kept the 2nd one Amazon sent us for our 2nd kid, and it has been working too. So this is a good thermometer, just don’t wash it with a faucet, use wipes.

I highly recommend because it has a very short temperature probe and this prevents you from going to far when checking their temperature rectally which can be scary for a first time parent. I would definitely recommend this! Also I would recommend when you buy this to also buy some sort of water based lubricant for checking their temperature so that you are prepared because we had to go out and buy some before we could use it safely and comfortably for baby. I would also recommend buying some rubbing alcohol and cotton rounds to clean off the thermometer after use to make sure it is sterile once again. I am not sure if they sell covers for this thermometer for each use but that would be a good investment as well.
